142. "In this case, you get
rid of the entire schmuck"

jewishsightseeing.com,  July 20, 2006

As retold by Bruce Lowitt

A judge is presiding over a Jewish couple's divorce. When the final papers have been signed and the civil union has been dissolved, the woman thanks the judge and says she has to arrange for a Get.

The judge inquires what that means. The woman explains that a Get is a religious ceremony required in the Jewish religion in order to receive a
divorce.

"You mean a religious ceremony," the judge says, "like a Bris?"

"Yes, very similar, except for one big difference," she says. "In this case you get rid of the entire schmuck."
