{Names with links are honorees of the Louis Rose Society for the Preservation of Jewish History.  If you would like to honor a member of the San Diego County Jewish Community who is  not living in your own household, you can write a tax-deductible check for $36 to the Jewish Community Foundation/ Louis Rose Fund, and send it to the foundation at 4950 Murphy Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92123.  Be sure to designate on the memo line of the check whom you would like to honor.  Additional honorees may be designated for contributions of $18 (chai) to the Louis Rose Fund)

David & Claire Ellman took the 222nd membership in the Louis Rose Society for the Preservation of Jewish History, and designated Charlene Seidle, associate director of the Jewish Community Foundation, as an honoree.  She is the 385th member of the San Diego Jewish community, present or past, to be so honored.

S Julie Smith,
daughter of San Diego County Assessor Greg Smith and Arlette Smith, is making aliyah to Israel. "I'm not leaving because I dislike America,” Smith told Sandi Dolbee, the religion and ethics writer of The San Diego Union-Tribune, in an interview published August 6. “I'm leaving because I like Israel.” Noting that Julie expects to live near the now-explosive Lebanese border, mother Arlette told Dolbee:  “I'm very proud of her passion, but I'm very nervous. The thought that my daughter's going to be right in the middle of everything, as a mom, I'm quite worried.”
