The Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives has named Rahm Emanuel as the chairman of its congressional campaign committee and has approved four other Jewish members of Congress as the ranking minority members of various committees.

Those members and their committees are Barney Frank (D-Mass), Financial Services; Jane Harmon (D-Calif), Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; Tom Lantos (D-Calif), Internatioanl Relations, and Henry Waxman (D-Calif), Government Reform.

Emanuel (D-Ill.) before entering the Congress served as a senior adviser to President Bill Clinton.

In other committee assignments, the Democratic Caucus also named Emanuel to the Ways and Means Committee. It assigned freshman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla) to the financial services committee and freshman Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Penn) to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.                   —Donald H.
