Leah Bleiweis, director of cultural affairs at the Israeli consulate general in Los Angeles, says she wants to help Israeli artists and American artists whose subject matters deal with Israel throughout the seven-state area covered by that consulate.

She urged those engaged in performance art, visual art, literature, music, films, and all other forms of art to contact her via email at culturedept@losangeles.mfa.gov.il if they live in Southern California or in Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah or Wyoming.  The Southern California district covered by the consulate include the counties of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ventura.

Bleiweis said she plans to include the names of all the artists on the consulate's website, and will try to put artists together with promoters and producers in order to disseminate more widely cultural information about Israel.

She recommended that in their e-mail messages to her, artists "send us a short bio, a description of your work (pic, cd, text etc.), a way for us to contact you and any other pertinent information."
